This Privacy Policy describes how DiffChecker (diff.oddete.com / diffchecker.oddete.com), operated by oddete.com, handles information when you use our free online text diff checker and file comparison tool.
1. No Data Collection
We do not collect, store, transmit, or process any text you enter into this tool.All diff computation happens entirely within your web browser using JavaScript. Your original text, modified text, and comparison results never leave your device. We have no access to the content you compare.
2. Local Browser Storage
To provide the auto-save history feature, this tool stores your past comparisons in your browser’s local IndexedDB storage. This data:
- Stays entirely on your device and is never sent to our servers.
- Is automatically limited to the last 30 comparisons to prevent excessive storage use.
- Can be cleared at any time using the “Clear All” button in the History panel.
- Is also cleared if you clear your browser’s site data.
3. Cookies and Preferences
We use localStorage (not cookies) to remember your theme preference (light or dark mode) and your PWA install prompt dismissal. No personal data is associated with these preferences.
4. Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics (such as page view counts) to understand general usage patterns. These analytics do not identify individual users and do not track the content of your comparisons.
5. Advertising
This site displays advertisements served by Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. We do not control the cookies set by Google AdSense.
6. Third-Party Services
Other than Google AdSense, this tool does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or analytics platforms that receive your text data. All diff processing is performed locally in your browser.
7. Children’s Privacy
This tool is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
